Manu Economy Adventure Tour 5 Days

The route for this tour begins on day one in Cusco and heads to Posada Manu Rainforest. It’s a long day of around 13 hours of travel making various stops along the way, (minivan) with potholes, curves, tunnels and many spectacular views.

In addition we will travel by boat for another 2 hours passing through low forest and beautiful landscapes, rolling with the currents and rapids; the trip is part of the adventure!

Day 01: Cusco – Cloud Forest – Salvacion

In our private minivan we’ll head out to the cloud forest, one of the highlights of our trip today. It’s a trip of 11 hours driving through incredible landscapes in the cloud forest including waterfalls, tunnels, and panoramic vistas until we arrive at Machuwasi Lake.

This afternoon we’ll cross the Machuwasi Lake in wooden rafts and certainly encounter the cantankerous Hoatzin, a peculiar and ancient bird inhabiting the Manu forest, as well as many other species of unique wildlife, among them on our target list: four types of monkeys and the largest rodent on earth, the capybara.

Night at the Salvacion town.

Day 02: Machuwasi Lagoon – Fishing - Posada Manu Rainforest

At 6:00 a.m. we ride two hours in the minivan to the banks of the river Alto Madre De Dios. Here we will board our boat that will take us upriver to Posada Manu Rainforest. Once there, we can go fishing with lures in the nearby streams full of fish of different varieties and sizes. It will be rewarding and fun sport fishing surrounded by the jungle of the Amazon. The buzz of cicadas (Cicadidae), the sounds of monkeys jumping in the trees tops, exotic birds, and gorgeous butterflies of different sizes and colors will astound you. .

At night we will have night walk in search of armadillos and pacas, and nocturnal monkeys which steal food from the fields that are cultivated the locals.

Day 03: Hiking - Bathing in the river

Today after breakfast we leave Posada Manu Rainforest to go to Robles Tree House, we travel through the jungle on a motorized canoe upriver (Rio Palotoa) for 45 minutes. Once at Robles Tree House, will have time available to explore our oak ecological reserve through our road system. We will now go to walk in search of wildlife very slowly and with a look to any movement or sound either of flocks of monkeys, peccaries, and macaws that tend to be in the tops of trees, also a beautiful forest of bamboos, giant ficus trees, ferns, insects, and wonderful mushrooms.

Half day delight a delicious lunch and enjoy the crystal clear waters and the Sun.

Day 04: Parrot and Macaw Colpa – River Tubing

As usual each morning hundreds of parrots, parakeets, macaws (Aras), gather to eat the clay rich in minerals at the lick (colpa) as part of their diet. To enjoy this activity we have to wake up at 5:00 a.m. and at 5:20 a.m. we should be in the hideout, across from the Parrot colpa, keeping silence and calmness to watch groups of five to ten gather and settle en masse on the rock wall and consume the rich mineral clay. We'll also have a good chance to see troupes of monkeys, toucans, and woodpeckers that often fly from one side of the river to the other. Here might also get to spot the shy and playful river otters.

Afterwards, enjoy an excursion in tubing along the Palotoa River's crystal clear waters in the middle of the jungle. Wildlife abounds: waterfowl and migratory birds, four types of monkeys, and squirrels jump between trees near the river. Later we arrive at the river Alto Madre De Dios, where we take our boat on the winding river that leads us to the hostel Posada Manu Rainforest for an evening in comfort and a delicious dinner. A guided night walk is possible.

Day 05: Posada Manu Rainforest - Cusco

Day of return to the city of Cusco by the same route as we came the first day, we have to cross the river in our wooden boat, to then take our local bus at 7:00 AM, to Salvacion. Here we take another minivan that leads directly to the city of the Cusco arriving at 6:00 a.m.

The meeting point or pick up will be at your Cusco hotel, our Guide will meet you with our private minivan.

The tour begins and ends in the city of Cusco. If you're based outside of Cusco in Pisac, Urubamba or Ollantaytambo for example, you will be picked up much earlier to be brought to the city of Cusco to join the tour at its departure point. Please contact us to coordinate. This will have an additional cost, and schedule of pick up will be arranged.
