Force majeure
Force Majeure is any event that MANU RAINFOREST PERU cannot even with all due care foresee, control or avoid. In this case, MANU RAINFOREST PERU will not accept liability and reserves the right to change, postpone or even cancel trips. (this is a last option of course!)

Incremental charge in case of protests or strikes (Force Majeure):
In the event of a protest or strike (not uncommon in Cusco) it may be necessary to leave a day or even two days earlier than scheduled so that we are able to comply with other services. In this case there may be an additional costs involved for lodging, transportation or meals, depending on the situation. Manu Rainforest Peru makes every effort so that these changes have minimal or no additional cost. For this reason, planning a couple days after your trip will provide you with a cushion of time in case we are delayed.

Strong rain in the jungle
If it rains a lot for several consecutive days, the road will become unstable, this could happen in rain season (December to March) though it could occur at any time of the year as its normal the jungle, in this case our jungle guide can assess the case and make decisions based on your safety. For example, wait a few hours in the case that the river is high and strong, or have to transfer to another vehicle in the event that there is a collapse in the road; or spend the night in the nearest local shelter until bad weather passes. Extra costs associated are not included in the trip price, so please plan accordingly and bring extra funds just in case.

On the other hand situations like these can happen without warning. Demonstrations and protests, often in response to local labour or social problems, occur regularly in all South America, and, Peru is no stranger. National strikes can occur with little or no notice, and can cause interruptions in the roads leading to our destination and may mean making changes in the itinerary. Manu Rainforest Peru makes every effort so that these changes have minimal or no additional cost.

By booking any of our adventure trips you assume the risks associated with personal accidents, medical emergencies, air travel problems etc. For these treks, MANU RAINFOREST PERU can accept no responsibility.

Travel insurance
We strongly advise you to take out travel insurance that covers accidents, medical expenses (including rescue and air ambulance) and emergency repatriation. We also recommend that it covers cancellations and loss of luggage. You can use a travel insurance comparison website to search and compare over 250 travel insurance plans to find the best policy to best suit your needs.

Once you have purchased travel insurance, please forward a copy of the insurance company name and policy number by email or bring the information when you come in to our office.

Group Trip Harmony
When traveling on a group trip, you'll be exposed to all the pleasures and perhaps some of the frustrations of travelling in a group. Your fellow travelers will probably come from all corners of the world and probably also of various age groups. We ask you to understand the varying needs and preferences of your group; sometimes patience is required with fellow travelers for the benefit of the experience of the journey of all. Remember also that you have responsibilities to the group. If prompted that it is somewhere at some time, be sure not to leave waiting for the rest of the group. We have found again and again that the best trips we operate are those in which the dynamics within the group works well; This requires a little effort on your part. Due to privacy reasons, we cannot provide you details of contact or any personal information about fellow travelers who booked their trip before departure.

Individual travelers
Our group trips are designed with shared accommodation so there are no single supplements added to our trips. Individual travelers share accommodation with traveler(s) in the group of the same sex. However, should you require your own private room we can arrange it at your cost.

Acclimatize! Spend some time adjusting to high altitude (above 3000 meters / 9842 feet – in Cusco or another high altitude area for a minimum of 2- 4 days before undertaking your trip. At minimum altitude sickness can cause discomfort, but for some it can be dangerous! Stay in a nearby town like lovely Pisac or Urubamba first and slowly move up to Cucso to get used to it! Drink plenty of fluids, eating food high in carbohydrates, and avoid cigarettes and alcohol. For symptoms our local remedy is drinking coca tea (ancient traditional leaf) which we can offer on the trip. Some hikers have recommended Diamox but check with your doctor before taking it. No one will have a fun trip with a sick passenger, so please take care! Plan time before and after your trip for whatever may happen and enjoy it. Arrive in Cusco or a nearby town 48 hours or more before departure and leave a couple days after to stay around Cusco. As mentioned, conditions are unpredictable and may mean changing departure and return to an earlier or later time, not to mention the many incredible sights to take in in the area.
